I'll get to the Tarahumara MTBing in a minute. I made the trip over to CA this week to further discuss a possible real job, with paychecks and everything. The meetings went great even though I realized beforehand that I don't own any shoes that don't have colorful knobbies on the soles or any pants without holes. Thankfully, the Danish founder (founder of the company, not the country) showed up in matching "casual" attire and we hit it off like old friends. The trip was amazingly awesome on several levels. As for the job, I'm waiting for the paperwork to be sent over to make sure we're all on the same page, so to speak.
While I was there, Tan had borrowed a bike from a mutual friend (thanks, Alissa!) for me to use because he was determined NOT to go for a run. We packed up everything and drove with Tyler in tow (she was running while we rode) and headed up to Fairfax. While unloading the bikes and gear, I realized I had forgotten my mtb shoes - something I've never done in my life. I forget my mother's birthday but I always remember cycling shoes. Somehow, Tan managed to convince me to ride in my sandals. We got in a little over an hour on the trails and I got a nice sun tan on my feet. I also made the mistake of stepping on a scale at Tan's place. I weigh as much as a sumo wrestler - lots of work to put in before race season.
Back home now after a nice trip. Running is getting better by the day. Did a good 8 mile negative split workout yesterday (slow as a turtle but still better than last week). Patience is not one of my strong qualities.
