While I was out in Western Colorado Thurs/Fri dropping off some stuff for my final move over there next week, I was fairly productive and got a taste of what I've been missing since last December. After recording and editing Elevation Trail's newest show yesterday, I treated myself to a flattish rolling road run, just zoning out in steady effort (just a small notch above "easy"). The ankle flared up for about a mile but otherwise cooperated. Lots of work to do to get to my little project of a 6:10 half marathon pace by January 1st (a 1:20:50 half). I was at that ability last year. That was sea level but it was also done off just ultrarun training and no speed endurance or any type of sharpening period. Just mostly really sick of the plodding pace I've been convincing myself is OK to maintain (because it is OK for ultramarathon training, I mean I ran 11:17 pace at San Diego 100 and took 3rd for Godsake...). I miss being on that edge of threshold having to focus to control that line. Regardless, like I mentioned, lots of work to get there in 3 months.
[took out the paragraph on the new project - maybe a little superstitious and don't want to jinx it... ;-) ]
Speaking of Ultra Adventures, Matt is doing more race course recon and face-to-face with land managers this weekend down at the Grand Canyon. The new website is so cool and should be finished up with no bugs (unlike a microsoft release). We expect it to be released by the end of this month. In the meantime, please check us out on Facebook and LIKE the page, so you can keep up with our events and news.
New show on Elevation Trail. Andrea Feucht joins Gary and me again and we chat about everything from DNF status missing in results more frequently now to Andrea thinking about starting her own podcast and pushing Elevation Trail off the top step of the podium (because, after all, we are the Super Bowl, World Cup, Mr. Universe of podcasting). Check out the show, download it, and take us along in your iPod for your next run. http://elevationtrail.wordpress.com/2013/09/20/void-of-dnfs-in-results-race-directing-and-andrea-feucht/
Oh, and Pippit found a ball at Dennis and Mary's house (that's his big news). Love my little buddy!
