Ankle is still injured from Leadville (starting to think stress fracture). Not that big of a deal but it'd be nice to get out on the trails for some stress relief.
The Elevation Trail shows are going great; really enjoying them and we've had some terrific guests on recently, including Nick Clark this week that is a MUST LISTEN - show HERE. He agreed to have Gary on the show with us, bypassing the restraining order due to the 2,000 mile distance between them.
The big news that I'm red hot stoked about is the partnership I've formed with Matt Gunn. Matt started tinkering with race directing when I was living down in St George, Utah a couple years ago and bounced a couple questions off me at the time about an event he was thinking about doing. That event turned into the Zion 100. We didn't really talk much over the last two years but I did decide to give the Zion 100 a try this year to see how he was doing. To understate it, I was impressed. It wasn't so much the attention to unique details like the one of a kind buckles (I mean each individual buckle as one of a kind), but more his brimming care and attentiveness and integrity he brought to the event. I briefly bumped into him while I staggered-jogged into the mile 80 aid station at around 11pm during the race. My bewildered state was only matched by his his sleep deprived "working your ass off" state from directing the event solo. That's the only time we've met in person and that was back in April. I hadn't heard from him since then.
Here's the new logo I've been putting together and tweaking.
So, here we are now, co-race directing six events in 2014, including Zion 100 and Bryce 100. The new events will also boast 100 mile distances in travel destination, jaw dropping, gorgeous locations. We're working with one of my favorite web designers to build a great, easy to navigate website. The events will continue with a focus on responsible sustainability "green" right down to the Eco Commodes (they're so much nicer than porta-potties that I could live in one). Our complimentary skill sets are a perfect match with both of us committed to putting on first rate events. The name of our company? Ultra Adventures, LLC. Of course...
Registration is now open for Zion 100 and Bryce 100. There is a cap on the number of registrants and they will sell out. Bryce's registration just opened yesterday late afternoon and I was stunned by the far reaching locations of people signing up. Truly destination events.
