After the marathon run last Saturday, I focused on the mtb trail rides and climb this week, culminating in a ride with rockstar mtb racer Eric from Herbalife, who organizes great rides around the Leadville course. Today we attacked the big daddy, Columbine up to 12,500 ft. It's a bit of a monster that lulls you into a nice climbing rhythm and then kicks you in the stomach with the final ~half mile pitch on loose rocks. Then we switched it up and descended on the Colorado Trail, which made all the climbing totally worthwhile. Rode that beast from botom to top - no hike a bike for me today but I can't promise that on race day ;-). Probably need to ride it a few more times before the race to get it down solid.
MTB - 12 hrs and 23,000 ft climb
Run - 2 hrs and 2,400 ft climb
