New Zion 100 Course and Short Long Runs

I'm getting super amped to race the Zion 100.  Difficult to believe I haven't raced since November and that was just a half-hearted jog.  Firetrails 50 miler was my last real race (in terms of intent and effort, anyway).  It seems like a long block of training now, 3 months of biking and 1.5 months of running.

The new course for Zion was just released today.  Elevation chart to come later this week.  Looks stout.  And, with a high there of 85 tomorrow, it should be good and toasty by race day next month.

Got out with Stephen today for 2:40, 2,700 ft climb up into Arapaho, where we post-holed a little on some snow drift trails but kept the effort solid throughout.  I'm about as pleased as I could be with my fitness at this point.  Zion will be the first mark on the wall of where I am.  That's another 5 weeks away but I'm not planning any long runs longer than around 3 hours beforehand.  We'll see how that works out.

Taking advantage in this swing to warmer weather here with a long ride tomorrow and probably Friday as well.  Hopefully my massive self doesn't break the seat post again.

Don't forget, the next hill running clinic is Sunday, March 31st at Mt Falcon.  Should be good times, so don't miss out.  Details on the Running Clinic page.

  1. You had something a few blog posts back about just running the race, and I wondered if that was even possible. Guess not?

  2. Yeah, it's evolved from "aw, I'll just walk and jog slowly for the training." to "I hope Jay Adous and anyone else in front of me has diarrhea at mile 70 and I win!"

  3. The competitive Tim is shining through. Of course, I love that!
