During my three week tour of the West leading up to Pine to Palm 100, I'm hanging out in the Silver State and am fortunate enough to be here for the Great Reno Balloon Race, which is taking place for the next three days in the field next to where I'm staying at my friend, Darren's, house.
We skipped our normal (way too early) ritual run and walked over with his family to see the pretty colors. To call this a "race" is like watching a retirement home walker race. I was surprised at how quickly a balloon comes to life. One minute the field was this flat dew sparkling grass expanse and the next minute it's filled with three dimensional color that can make even a tired adult smile. Yesterday, I caught a glimpse of a JAWS balloon while driving by, so you better believe I'll be back down there tomorrow at 5am to see that sucker!

| My little "Jaws" movie companion, Chloe. |
 |
| My hosts (the humans, not the panda). |
 |
| Darth Vader all the way from Belgium. Cool. |
Saw them on my drive in to work this morning. They make me smile every year. A balloon race sunrise is a great way to start the day.
