Boom Days Weekend In Leadville

Yesterday I headed over to Leadville for the weekend for Brandon's annual Leadville 100 night training run.  Should be around 30 people participating over the weekend and with the Leadville Boom Days festivities taking place this weekend the place is humming with energy (giant sized food and dangerous activities like "mining games" and gun events).  GZ will be racing the second installment of the Burro Running Events, a 20 mile jog with a wild donkey.  I briefly contemplated entering but, thankfully, need to be back in Boulder mid-afternoon tomorrow...

Boom Days, partner.

Speaking of energy, I'm in a real energy funk lately, struggling through 60-90 min runs like I'm dragging sandbags with me.  Add in the 10,000 ft altitude and I'm like a dizzy zombie on the trails.  Today's run from Fish Hatchery to town (apx 23 mi) should be "fun".

In other news, Matt and I have re-established forces in our Inside Trail Commentary project, which we began exactly one year ago.  Ruffling feathers, providing information, and making people think are our goals.  Stop by and give it a read.  insidetrail.wordpress.com

Registrations for the next running clinics are rolling in.  We've had great fun at the previous clinics, so I'm looking forward to filling these and meeting new folks along with seeing some friends there.

  2. Ahh, an old mining town. How charming... But like VC (well sort of, mountains vs desert and give 'er take 4,000 feet), it's the trails, nice. Hope our commissioners don't hear about burro races, the camel races are enough. Find the energy sir.
