Deadman
Shoe-horned my way into the sold out Deadman Peaks Trail 50 Miler on Oct 23 down in New Mexico. I had been looking at this event for a while but it sold out fast. Should be fun. I feel pretty solid physically and am looking forward to running there. It's an out and back course on the Continental Divide Trail. There's only about 6,500 ft climb but I'm thinking they're the jagged, grunt, short, constant climbs and the trail is difficult terrain. I've learned from North Fork not to underestimate a course just before running it. So, it'll be a tight two weeks of racing with that and the Antelope Island 100k. Oh, and a lot of driving too!

I'll give you my Mt. Lemmon time plus three hours in a beer bet...
ReplyDeletedone.
ReplyDelete12 of dales pale ale for me. wife beater sized pbr for you.
Damn, now I'll actually have to run some of Lemmon...
ReplyDeleteYou best be running all of it. That thing has 6,000 ft of climb!
ReplyDeleteI know you and your bets. You have some sort of formula enabling you to determine exactly how much time you'll win by. You'll need to run sub 4 to have a chance. Yes, that's me out on that limb, skinny limb.
Or I could just switch to the half marathon...
ReplyDeleteWould Pippit want to play at our house a few days while you race in NM?
ReplyDeleteWhat a super idea, Kathleen!! Maybe we could get a (very easy) run and lunch in together on my way back Sunday. I'll let you know tomorrow when I'll be heading there.
ReplyDeleteThanks for thinking of the little guy. I was just going to take him with me but would feel better if you guys had him.
Unless it's a weekend day...
ReplyDeleteKathleen forgot to ask the million dollar question - Can he go 10 hour shifts inside? That's about the span from when we leave in the morning til we get home.... Just gotta make sure!
ReplyDeleteHe's gone 16 hrs when jeff and I almost died on longs peak. He'd make a good monk. No food no bathroom for extended periods.
ReplyDeleteFather Pippit Long of the Boulder Order of Monastic St Charles Terriers has a reservation then!
ReplyDeleteI told him it will be an honored retreat (he heard "treat"). He's sworn off squirrel chasing for the fortnight to celebrate.
