  1. Mid-way through your list I was thinking more Body Glide (kinda smart-Alecky) then the next drop bag had another stick of Body Glide. LOL. Yep. Chafing is bad.

Not having run an ultra, maybe my advice is weak sauce, but the combo of NSAID painkillers and dehydration can be problematic because of its effect on the kidneys. I'd just be careful.

  2. Yeah, I have this distinct fear of chafing. Regarding ibuprofen, it affects people differently. I've not had a problem with it. I only intend to take it when any pain slows my progress, otherwise it's mostly insurance (like the body glide)! I definitely hear you on the risks of it though.

The stuff in drop bags barely gets used but to have a race end or suffer more than necessary for hours due to something avoidable is just dumb. I'll go into almost every race 50 miles and less with nothing but shorts and shoes but 100 scares me into something I typically care little about - details.

  3. TP?
I like to toss extra batteries in each night time drop bag - never know when you might need 'em.

Good luck, pulling for you on this one!

  4. Thanks Chris! I planned to put fresh batteries in each light but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to pack extra. I'm shy, so TP was an unmentioned item. Besides, the duct tape can serve the same purpose.

  5. You forgot 'beer' at finish. Oh yeah, and 'belt' to attach your shiny new buckle to!

    Go get it!

  6. What Nic said...

I'll have a beer for you at the finish, though you'll hafta wait a bit to get it.
